Ingredients
  • 1 jar (16 oz) grape leaves, rinsed
  • 1.5 cups short-grain rice, rinsed
  • 1 large onion finely chopped, 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley and mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp allspice, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, salt, black pepper
  • 1/3 cup olive oil, juice of 2 lemons
Instructions
  1. 1Mix rice with onion, tomatoes, herbs, spices and half the olive oil for filling.
  2. 2Place a spoonful of filling on each leaf (vein side up), fold sides and roll tightly.
  3. 3Arrange rolls tightly in a pot. Add remaining oil, lemon juice and enough water to cover.
  4. 4Place a plate on top and simmer on low for 45-50 min until rice is cooked. Cool slightly before serving.
