Indian Style Toor Dal (Gujarati Style Sweet) — a healthy vegetarian halal recipe with 210 calories and 11g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal (pigeon peas), rinsed
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, 1–2 green chilies
- ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp jaggery or sugar, 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp ghee, curry leaves, salt
Instructions
- 1Pressure cook dal with turmeric and salt until soft. Mash lightly.
- 2Heat ghee, add mustard, cumin, curry leaves, ginger, chilies, and tomato.
- 3Add to dal with jaggery and lemon. Simmer 5–7 min.
- 4Serve with rice and sabzi.
