Indian Style Rava Idli (Quick South Indian) — a healthy vegetarian halal recipe with 220 calories and 7g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rava (semolina)
- 1 cup yogurt (plain)
- ½ cup grated carrot, 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, 8–10 curry leaves, 1 green chili
- ½ tsp baking soda or Eno fruit salt, salt
- 1 tbsp oil or ghee
Instructions
- 1Dry roast rava lightly. Mix with yogurt, salt, and enough water to make thick batter. Rest 10 min.
- 2Heat oil, temper mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, chili. Add to batter with carrot and cilantro.
- 3Stir in baking soda. Pour into greased idli molds.
- 4Steam 12–15 min. Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
