Indian Style Masoor Dal (Simple Stovetop) — a healthy vegetarian halal recipe with 220 calories and 13g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils (masoor dal), rinsed
- 1 onion, 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee, salt, fresh cilantro, lemon wedges
Instructions
- 1Heat oil in a pot. Add cumin seeds, then onion and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté until golden.
- 2Add tomatoes and spices; cook 4–5 min until soft.
- 3Add lentils and 3 cups water. Bring to boil, then simmer 15–20 min until dal is soft.
- 4Mash slightly, adjust consistency, and garnish with cilantro and lemon. Serve with rice.
