Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups dried black-eyed peas (lobia), soaked overnight or 1 hour hot water
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1-2 green chilies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric, 1.5 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee, salt to taste, cilantro
Instructions
  1. 1Pressure cook soaked lobia with salt and turmeric until tender (15-20 min).
  2. 2Heat oil; add cumin. Sauté onion golden, add ginger-garlic and chilies.
  3. 3Stir in tomato puree and spices; cook until oil separates.
  4. 4Add cooked lobia with some cooking water; simmer 10 min until gravy thickens. Garnish with cilantro.
