Healthy French Onion Soup (No Wine) — a healthy halal recipe with 180 calories and 5g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp olive oil or butter (if halal)
- 6 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 6 cups halal beef broth
- 1 tsp thyme, bay leaf, salt & pepper
- Halal cheese (mozzarella or Swiss) and toasted bread for topping (optional)
Instructions
- 1Cook onions in oil over medium-low heat, stirring often, 30-40 min until deeply caramelized.
- 2Add garlic, vinegar, broth, thyme, and bay leaf. Simmer 15-20 min.
- 3Remove bay leaf. Ladle into bowls and top with toasted bread and melted cheese if desired.
