Ingredients
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 3 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 3–4 dried red chilies
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp urad dal
- ½ tsp tamarind paste, salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- Tempering: 1 tsp mustard seeds, curry leaves, 1 dried red chili, 1 tbsp oil
Instructions
- 1Heat oil, roast chana dal, urad dal, red chilies, and garlic until fragrant. Add onions and sauté until soft.
- 2Add tomatoes, tamarind, and salt. Cook 8–10 min until tomatoes break down.
- 3Cool slightly and blend to desired consistency.
- 4Heat tempering oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and red chili. Pour over chutney. Serve with idli, dosa, or rice.
