Ingredients
- 1 cup whole black urad dal (soaked 30 min)
- 1 onion, 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp garam masala, chili powder
- 4–5 cups water
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil, fresh cilantro, cream (optional)
Instructions
- 1Pressure cook or simmer soaked dal until very soft (40+ min).
- 2In separate pan, make tadka: heat ghee, add cumin, onion, ginger-garlic, tomatoes, and spices.
- 3Mix tadka into cooked dal. Simmer 10 min. Mash slightly for creaminess.
- 4Garnish with cilantro. Serve as soup or with rice.
